How to use Marquee or Blink

My advice: Don't
  • It is distracting to the viewer
  • It is not friendly to users with disabilities
  • It is against W3C Guidelines
Steegle has an alternative method:

Google Sites - Animated Slider / Slideshow - Google Docs Presentation

If you really want to use marquee text:

If you try to insert the marquee code in the HTML for a page, like
<marquee behavior="scroll" direction="left">Your slide-in text goes here</marquee>
The marquee tag will be removed.

A method to make this work would be to create an HTML page for it and store it in a public Google Drive folder or in a public Dropbox folder and insert it into your site using an iframe.

Example:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<head>
</head>
<body>
<span STYLE="font-size: x-large;font-family: Comic Sans MS;font-weight: bold;">
<marquee behavior="scroll" direction="left">Your slide-in text goes here</marquee>
</span>
</body>
</html>

Note that when your site is accessed at the GS URL that starts with https the iframe will be blocked by most web browsers until the viewer clicks to allow it. If you have mapped your site to a domain using 'http' in the URL you will not have this problem.
